This year we were a part of an election, a first for the SIFAS Management committee in almost twenty years.
As the current Management Committee, for us the process of transformation is so important at SIFAS at this moment of transition, and we propose Transformation – through Transparency, Responsiveness and Digitalization. SIFAS needs to transform to become a modern, professionally run, member-focused organisation.
Our broad over-arching goal, is improving the professionalism of all aspects of management, including academic training, faculty development, performance presentation, accounting and IT systems, and publicity.
We also plan to create more outreach programs and collaborations with sister organisations within Indian Arts along with encouraging non-Indians to participate and learn at SIFAS.
Our membership also needs to have further benefits beyond just the ability to enrol for a class. Partnerships and reciprocal privileges will need to be studied and pursued.
As a Singapore Organisation, SIFAS needs to be part of the Integration initiatives to provide a national eco-system with celebrations of both significant holidays that are relevant in Singapore along with those related to Classical Arts.
Mahatma Gandhi once said “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
Change should not be for the sake of change but with our well thought out plan and vision, we want to strengthen and grow SIFAS… to further strengthen its deep roots in culture and tradition, on one hand, and to give it wings to fly ahead on the strength of its own students, members and alumni.
